Masala Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients
6 large yellow potatoes, peeled and chopped into chunks
1 stick butter (8 TBSPs)
1 tsp cumin seeds
½ small red onion (diced)
2 finely chopped green chilies
2 tsp garlic paste
½ tsp red chili flakes
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ cup heavy whipping cream
½ cup sour cream
½ cup diced green onions (optional)
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Instructions
1) In a large pot, cover potatoes with water and add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until totally soft. Drain and transfer potatoes to a large bowl.
2) In a small saucepan, melt 6 tablespoons butter.
3) Add the cumin seeds, onions, green chilies, garlic paste, red chili flakes, and turmeric.
4) Add the mixture to the potatoes and mix well. Use a potato masher to mash potatoes.
5) Add the sour cream and mash potatoes until smooth.
6) Add heavy whipping cream and mash potatoes until creamy.
7) Season with salt and pepper to taste.
8) Top with remaining two tablespoons butter. Garnish with green onions or chives if desired.
